It contains Saponin, 2% essential oil, of which 20 to 40% is Thymol, which is an antibacterial and antiseptic substance that is added to disinfectants, soaps and other drugstore goods. Its active ingredients dissolve mucus and it is also used as a gargle. Prior to the advent of modern antibiotics, Thyme oil was used to soak bandages. If you need Thyme for pharmacy and you do not have the opportunity to buy it fresh, it will be better to get it at the pharmacy, in dried form. He will definitely be in better shape than the one from the store...
